Sony's E-mount uses a 46.1mm throat with an 18mm flange distance, the shortest of any full-frame mirrorless system. That short flange is what makes Sony the de facto adapter platform: PL cine glass via DZOFilm adapter, Canon EF via Sigma MC-11, plus native first-party G Master with cooperative IS on bodies that have IBIS. The GM II generation cut weight by 22 to 40 percent versus GM I (the 70-200 GM OSS II is 1045g, down from 1480g) and doubled AF speed with four XD Linear Motors. For run-and-gun on FX3 and A7IV, that weight reduction matters when you're handheld for a 12-hour day.

What ships in each rental

Every Sony FE lens ships with front and rear caps, lens hood, and the original soft case. Shoots requiring multiple Sony lenses get a shared Pelican case with cut foam. Tell us the body at the booking step and we will confirm IS coordination and AF compatibility.

Common questions

Are these Sony E-mount lenses compatible with the FX3, FX6, and A7IV?
Yes. Every lens in this collection is native Sony E-mount, so it pairs directly with the Sony FX3, FX6, FX30, and A7-series bodies (A7IV, A7S III, A7R V) with full electronic communication: autofocus, aperture, IS coordination, and EXIF. Third-party E-mount glass from Sigma, Sirui, Blazar, and Laowa in the collection use Sony's licensed protocol so behavior matches first-party G Master.
Does OSS image stabilization coordinate with hybrid bodies?
Yes. Sony's Optical SteadyShot (OSS) on the FE 70-200 GM OSS II combines with in-body 5-axis stabilization on the FX3, A7IV, and A7S III for sensor-and-lens cooperative stabilization. The 24-70 GM II, 16-35 GM II, and 28-70 f/2 GM rely on body IBIS only (no OSS) to keep size and weight down on the GM II generation. On the FX6 (no IBIS), OSS lenses give you stabilization the body cannot.
How does autofocus perform on the GM II generation?
Sony GM II zooms use four XD Linear Motors (two each on focus and floating groups) for fast, silent autofocus that tracks Real-Time Eye AF and Real-Time Tracking on the A7IV, FX3, and A1. AF speed is roughly twice the original GM generation. Sigma DG DN Art primes use a stepping motor and pair cleanly with Sony's AF system; Sirui anamorphics are manual focus only by design.
What's the difference between T-stop and f-stop on these lenses?
f-stop is a geometric ratio (focal length over aperture diameter); T-stop is the actual light transmission after element absorption losses. Photo lenses like the GM II series and Sigma Art are marked in f-stops because the difference is small (typically 1/3 stop). Cinema lenses are marked in T-stops because perfectly matched exposure across primes matters for editorial. The Sirui anamorphic lenses in this collection are marked T2.9, the Blazar Apex anamorphics T1.8, and the Sony GM zooms f/2.8.
Which Sony lenses give the best bokeh?
For round, creamy bokeh on full-frame Sony, the FE 85mm f/1.4 GM II is the bokeh king (11-blade rounded diaphragm, minimal onion-ringing). The FE 50mm f/1.4 GM is close behind at a wider, more usable focal length. For zoom bokeh, the FE 28-70mm f/2 GM gives a full stop more separation than any f/2.8 standard zoom. For anamorphic bokeh (oval shapes, horizontal flares), the Sirui 1.6x and Blazar Apex 1.33x lines deliver the cinematic look at a fraction of true cine anamorphic cost.
Can I get a Certificate of Insurance (COI) for productions and venues?
Yes. We issue Certificates of Insurance naming the production company, agency, or venue as additional insured at no charge. Submit the COI request at the booking step or email [email protected] with the certificate holder details. Standard turnaround is one business day.
