FAQ
Lens rental questions
Which lenses work with my camera?
For RED V-Raptor and Komodo-X, pair PL cine primes (DZOFilm Vespid 2, Arles VV) or PL anamorphic (Blazar Remus 1.5x) with a PL adapter. For Sony FX6, FX3 and A7 series bodies, Sigma Art and Sony G Master lenses mount without an adapter. Not sure? Call or text +1 437 747 6030 with your camera before you book.
What lens mounts and adapters do you stock?
Native PL on the DZOFilm Vespid 2, Arles VV, ARRI Zeiss Ultra Prime and Blazar Remus lenses. Native Sony E on the Sony G Master, Sigma Art, Thypoch Simera-C and Blazar Apex lenses. Canon EF mount on the Helios, Jupiter and Mir vintage primes. Adapters include the Canon EF to RF adapter and the Sigma MC-11 EF to Sony E adapter. Ask if you need a different mount.
What's the difference between Super 35, full-frame and VistaVision coverage?
Super 35 is the smallest image circle of the three, used by the Komodo-X and FX30. Full-frame covers the standard 36x24mm sensor on the FX6, FX3 and A7 series. VistaVision is larger still: the DZOFilm Arles VV covers the V-Raptor's 8K VV mode. Pick the lens line that covers the sensor mode you are shooting.
Anamorphic or spherical: which one for my shoot?
Spherical (DZOFilm Vespid, Arles, Sigma Art, Sony G Master) is the working default: predictable bokeh, sharp across the frame and easy focus. Anamorphic (Blazar Remus 1.5x and Apex 1.33x) gives the squeeze, oval bokeh and horizontal flares for music video, narrative and commercial work. Remus is PL; Apex is Sony E with autofocus.
Can I add a matte box, ND and follow focus to my lens rental?
Yes. Matte boxes, 4x5.65 filters and follow focus (Tilta Nucleus-M or DJI Focus Pro) are add-ons at the booking step, so they're ready with your lens at pickup.
